About Us

As a remedial and special needs school, Glenoaks promotes individual growth and development, differentiating teaching and learning styles. We aim to meet the academic, emotional and social needs of our learners who struggle and experience learning difficulties in the classroom. Striving for dynamic and individual growth and development, Glenoaks is an entrenched remedial and special needs school that aspires to support the different learning requirements of your child with an inclusive approach.

Glenoaks has served the community for 40 years during which its operational model has evolved to suit and support the individual needs of our learners. In our remedial and special needs capacity, we have well-supported streams each with a dedicated Head of Department. Here, we cater for learners with a broad range of abilities and barriers to learning, all of whom are accommodated in an appropriate stream to optimise their learning potential. Take a further look at our About page and read about our different streams.

  • Provide skills to cope with the challenges of life by encouraging active participation in learning, developing problem solving skills and a positive work ethic

  • Generate a sense of self-discipline and responsibility by providing opportunities for learners to demonstrate their capabilities and celebrate their success

  • Foster the importance of family and community by providing an example of co-operative team work in action, involvement of families in the programs offered by the school and by developing attitudes of care and concern for others

At Glenoaks, our learners are required and expected to abide by our five important school rules which are enforced daily. This chart is visible in the classrooms. The merit and demerit system follows the demonstration or transgression of any rule.
